Course Outline

Edify is currently recruiting for the 2012 Internship! Receive skills and experience that are nationally recognised as you live and work alongside The Salvo's in the urban cauldron of Sydney, Australia.
Since 2008 The Salvation Army's Streetlevel Mission has been operating the Edify Internship program out of the inner city of Sydney. The Edify Internship is an accredited 10-month residential training program, which runs from February to December each year. For those 18 or over, it's a unique and exciting opportunity to live and serve in an urban missional community and have your life challenged and changed.
During the Edify Internship you will study to achieve either a Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC41808), or a Certificate IV in Community Services Work (CHC40708). Both are nationally recognised qualification that will make you employable in youth and community specific specific services or organisations within Australia and beyond. Participants in the Edify Internship will be eligible to apply for Austudy to assist in payment for the program and their day-to-day living expenses.
Interns will live incarnationally (on-site) and in community (with others) and be intentionally discipled and mentored. Additionally you'll receive non-accredited training which will assist you in developing theological understanding and practical skills. Through an intense year of mission, service and learning you will be empowered to live in disadvantaged urban communities and work with at-risk young people. The Edify Internship gives young adults a chance to grow in their faith; to do something radical by serving diverse urban communities; and to consider whether youth/community work may be a calling on their lives.
