]]>I have always had faith in Jesus and have always had the desire to serve.

I feel it is my upbringing that has caused me to want to serve those who are needy. I have been raised in a single parent home, lived in poverty but have got through it.

I have a job at the moment which does pay me a stable wage, but I get very little out of it. Every night I walk home and part of my walk takes me through the city and I see the homeless people and especially the youth.

If people just stopped and rather than thinking they're beyond redemption and thought perhaps all they need is a hand up in life, what a difference it would make to society.

I want to serve and I want to fight, not just as a 10 month "experience", but as a lifelong mission.

]]>wow. this sounds amazing. what a great program. i love how its linked so closely with the community and reaching out to the lost to give them hope, the hope of Jesus. ive only just heard about this program, ive heard about the salvation army before but didnt know that this street level mission is happenning. im so interested and now have another option of what God wants me to do next year and possibly beyond. God is awesome and its so great to see how he is working. maybe this is what God wants me to do?? like in the video, ive heard about injustice and suffering and homelessness but only as a picture, but this would be so practical and in your face which i think would be so moving and have a impact on me. God loves all people and i need to reach out to those who dont know that, cos im no better than them, we are worth the same in Gods eyes.

Beth, I am not sure if my colleague has been in touch with you, but there is a STUMP in September where we are catering for people from QLD during their school holidays. If you can make the week it will be between the 27th September to the 3rd of October.
