How The Course Operates

Certificate IV in Community Services Work is delivered from a Christian world view and aims to provide you with a solid foundation in the skills and knowledge required to work with diverse community groups and individua;s, with both compassion and professionalism.

Our 9 month training program combines classroom teaching from experienced practitioners, with practical experience in relevant social and community service placements. This course will equip serve and work within a community service framework.

Course Structure
Students attend lectures once a fortnight for the period of the year. In addition to this students wll participate in three training blocks which will be delivered over 5 week long intensives across the year. Beginning around the first week of March 2011, and running through to the end of November, students will undertake the training blocks at The Salvation Army School For Leadership Training in Stanmore. In addition this you will partner with the Certificate IV in Youth Work students to do reflection and thereuaptic learning learning at the Oasis training site. Across the year you will study full time to complete 14 units across two semesters. For a list of the fourteen units covered in the course click here. Each semester is divided into two terms broken by the NSW government school vacation dates. In each semester students will complete 7 units through practical work placement, in class activity, lectures and homework / assignments.

Community Work Placement
All students are required to undertake 264 hours of placement within a community services specific work environment. The suitability and appropriateness of each community work placement will be worked out between the Course Coordinator and individual student.

Intensive One: Monday 12th - Friday 16th March 2012

Intensive Two: Monday 28th May - Friday 1st June 2012

Intensive Three: Monday 20th - Friday 24th August 2012
