Kingston East Neighbourhood Group

Kingston East Neighbourhood Group specialises in providing ante-natal and post-natal support for families. While these services can be accessed from any of the C4C Family Hub sites, KENG is the central point from which all parents in the Kingston, Loganlea and Waterford West area can access these FREE services.

Baby Slings

Baby Slings come with instructions and are available free for new parents and carers in the Kingston, Loganlea & Waterford West area.  A demonstration will be provided on the safe use of the baby slings.  According to the Tulane University studies, baby slings offered the single most successful method of optimum neurological development in infants.

Baby Massage

The Baby Massage course is a free three-week session for parents and their babies who are not yet walking (babies under 8 months). This program fosters bonding and attachment as well as providing relaxation techniques to sooth both baby and parent.

Home Safety Starter Packs/Newborn Baby Packs

Baby Starter Packs come with a demonstration of the safe use of the contents, which include information and samples of electricity outlet plugs, door catches, vinyl bath stickers etc for the protection of the baby and young children. These packs are provided free to parents in the KLWW site.

Hello Baby

These sessions are run every Tuesday morning at KENG. They are informal sessions where parents can have morning tea and discuss what to expect, and how to cope with, the first 12 weeks of life. These sessions are practical and interactive, and are run by a qualified health professional.

Dummy Dump & Bottle Bank

This program is designed to encourage children to stop using their dummy or bottle.

Post-Natal/Ante-Natal Support Groups

Antenatal/Postnatal Support Groups are designed to provide support for mums-to-be and new parents through a range of options, including one-on-one support and an opportunity to participate in parenting groups where there is peer support from other parents. The Hello Baby program is an ongoing group for new parents to discuss what to expect in the first 12 weeks of life.

Doulas Home Visiting Support

A Doula is a trained volunteer who can support pregnant women and their families, offer encouragement, provide them with options, and offer pre-natal, labour, and post-natal choices during and after pregnancy.  Kingston East Neighbourhood Centre provides Doula volunteers who will discuss any concerns or questions families may have regarding pregnancy, labour, or coming home with baby.

Informal Groups

The PRAISE Parenting Group runs every Monday morning from 10am. Drop-In Fridays will begin in 2010 at KENG. They will be informal sessions ranging from Yoga and relaxation sessions, to parent support groups, to Story Swags sessions. There is also a Young Parent supported playgroup every Wednesday morning from 9.30am.
