Growing Citizens
The Communities for Children Program is currently developing a range of programs for children aged 5-12
Old School-Yard Games
Old School-Yard Games aims to re-teach the classic and traditional school yard games to children. The fun and benefits of games such as elastics, hopscotch, marbles and hand clapping have been forgotten or pushed aside; however there is now a need identified from parents and practitioners to “please teach our children to play”. The kit contains simple instructions for team, duo and solo games, as well as variations for different age groups and abilities.
Jammin’ Juniors
Jammin’ Juniors is a music program for primary aged children that is fun and interacticve. Music is relaxing, enjoyable, and a fantastic outlet for creativity. It supports the emotional development of children as well as their thinking and co-ordination.
Story Swags
This is a 6 week program aimed at helping children enjoy reading, language and literacy. The children create a ‘swag’ of resources centred around a favourite book, and fill it with fun and interactive games they make themselves.
5 Days of Fun
5 Days of Fun is a holiday program full of educational and fun activities to help while away those long holidays.
Wisdom Circles
This is a new program being developed in 2010 to support children’s emotional well-being. Watch this space!
Fun Friends
The Fun Friends and Friends for life program supports the social and emotional development of children in prep and primary school. It teaches them coping strategies and alternative ways to deal with frustrations and emotions. The program was developed by Dr. Paula Barrett and the Pathways Trust.
Other programs under development include:
- Drug proofing your kids – promoting healthy life choices and the consequences of substance misuse
- Life Skillz – this supports children with a range of skills like basic cooking and nutrition, development and well-being.
- Girl’s Self Esteem
- Anti-bullying
- Boyz only
- And many more…
