Christmas budgeting tips
The Salvation Army Moneycare service has provided the following tips for managing the budget at Christmas time.
- Plan your Christmas shopping.
- Start early! The later you leave it, the more likely you are to overspend.
- Make a gift list.
- Set a price limit for each person and total the list.
- Calculate how many pay days until Christmas & how much to put aside from each.
- Set aside the money and use it only for those gifts.
- Try buying gifts ahead of time during sales.
- Cross people off the list as you buy to prevent duplication.
- Get to know the interests of family and friends - that will help when choosing gifts.
- Remember that money is also a great gift, as it allows recipients to choose
