Distance Education students are advised that all study resources (apart from required textbooks) are provided electronically via download. Download links to study resources and the private online discussion forum for each subject will be available in week 1.
More information about online discussion forums and log-in details will be emailed to Distance Education students on Monday 15th February 2010.
To facilitate optimum learning and provide an engaging teaching and learning environment for our Distance Education program, all subjects have Online Discussion Forums. For most subjects, weekly participation in online discussions is a compulsory requirement for successful completion of the subject.
Some Distance Education subjects will offer 'real-time' online class sessions. Details of these sessions, and negotiable session times, will be communicated to students in the first week of semester. Whilst not compulsory, these discussion sessions are highly recommended for all students, as they will provide you with the opportunity to meet and interact with your lecturer and other students in your class.
For online same-time discussions students will require internet access and flash player (above version 8). A microphone and webcam are also recommended.
In addition tothe other Guidelines and Help for Assessment Tasks available on the Student Resources page, online students should note the following:
Essay Readers or other assessment task reference material provided by the lecturer is provided for the purpose of assisting you with your preparation for assessment work, and to minimise the disadvantage of geographical location for many distance students when trying to source academic biblical and theological study material.
It is not intended that your assessment work be based solely on the readings in your reader. It is expected that you will refer to a number of other sources in your work.
The number of sources referred to in your essays (and listed in your bibliography) should be at least
and may include books, journals, articles, dialogues and (academic) web sources.
Distance students are reminded that they can also access the Booth College library catalogue online and borrow books by contacting the librarian.
