Required Textbooks Semester 1-2012

Helpful Downloadable Resources for Students

The following resources are provided for the reference of Bexley North students:

Footnoting and Referencing

In the past we have given students the option to use two referencing systems. From 2012 the ONLY referencing system in use at Booth College will be Chicago 16th (with footnoting).

For details on referencing with this method, please refer to this website: http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org  This website provides a "Quick Guide" which covers most of the frequently used  sources (Books, Journals, Websites etc). Please feel free to ask your lecturer for help if you have any difficulty as you adjust to the exclusive use of Chicago 16th this year.

Guidelines and Help for Assignments

The number of sources referred to in your essays (and listed in your bibliography) should be at least

  • 6 for Diploma level students
  • 8-10 for Bachelor level students
  • 10-12 for Post Graduate students

and may include books, journals, articles, dialogues and (academic) web sources.

Assignment Templates

All students are reminded that ALL assignments must now be submitted electronically, with the appropriate Assignment Coversheet as the first page of the assignment (not as a separate document). A template is available on the Student Resources page.

Student Web-Portal

To assist students in monitoring their studies you have access to a Student Portal within the web-based database we use (called eMinerva) http://scd.eminervacommunity.com/

Using the web-portal you are able to log in and access information regarding subjects you are enrolled in or have completed and your results. You are also able to update your student details ie. address, phone, email etc.

Students are reminded that ALL marks recorded in eMinerva are PROVISIONAL until after moderation
at the conclusion of each semester.

You are required to REGISTER as a user to access the Portal...

  • on the Eminerva Community website select - REGISTER
  • Enter your MXL student number  (this is the number on the top of your Statement of Results, under your name it is NOT your SCD student number)
  • Enter your email address - this must be the same email address that you have provided to us.
  • The database will check and validate your email address with the one on your student records. It will then send an email to you with your eMinerva password.

USING THE DATABASE

  • on the Eminerva Community website enter your MXL Student Number and the Password that was sent to you
  • Select from the available menu:
    • Student Details
    • Modules
    • Results
