This year's theme - “Vision for the Lost or a Lost Vision?” stems from a desire to consider The Salvation Army’s theology and ministry practice 100 years on from the death of William Booth, which occurred on the 20 August, 1912.

The Practical Theology of John Wesley, presented by Dr Kenneth Collins

Booth College Summer Seminar 2012 launches with a series of lectures on The Practical Theology of John Wesley by distinguished Professor of Wesley Studies and Historical Theology at Asbury Theological Seminary, Dr Kenneth J Collins.

Dr Collins has lectured and taught on The Theology of John Wesley throughout the world in diverse settings from Moscow to Costa Rica and is known for his engaging, critical-thinking style. He is recognised for his exemplary teaching and is the 2008 recipient of the Professor of theYear Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Dr Collins has published a host of books and scores of articles exploring topics ranging fromWesleyan theology to Christian spirituality. His highly regarded book, The Theology of John Wesley: Holy Love and the Shape of Grace, is described as the most complete and correct account of John Wesley’s theology available.

Dr Collins’ lectures on The Practical Theology of John Wesley are not to be missed.

2011 Coutts Memorial Lecture

Reflections on Modern Christology

Booth College Association is proud to announce that the key speaker for the 2011 Coutts Memorial Lecture will be Lars Lydholm speaking on the subject "Reflections on Modern Christology - Human, Holy & Divine - the same thing?".

Lars Lydholm is the Head of Business, Administration & Communication for The Salvation Army in Denmark. He has been a member of The Salvation Army's International Doctrine Council since 2004 and has experience as a lecturer in Systematic Theology & Dogmatics at the University of Copenhagen.

This year the Coutts Memorial lecture will be delivered in Sydney and in Brisbane to allow maximum opportunity for Salvationists and friends to be present and benefit from this significant event. A live stream of the event is also available for those not able to attend in person.

There is no charge to attend these events.

Welcome to Country & Raising of the Aboriginal Flag

Booth College desires to be a place where indigenous people feel comfortable and welcomed. In recognition of this, Booth College will be holding a formal Welcome to Country at our Bexley North campus. An official raising of the Aboriginal flag will be held, with the flag being permanently flown on a dedicated flagpole.

Special guest Michael West, from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council, will be present.

All staff and friends of Booth College are invited to attend this event.
