Cert IV in Youth Work class edify students

The Lake Munmorah program is an intensive full-time 1 year residential course. Although some free time is allocated to students each week, there is no opportunity for part-time work.

Students studying at the OASIS campus (Surry Hills) are offered both residential and non-residential delivery and are required to allocate 3 full days for study. They may work part-time on other days.


The Certificate IV in Youth Work is fully accredited and
Centrelink approved for Youth Allowance and Austudy for eligible students.

This qualification covers workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies and workers will be:

  • Responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation
  • Largely self directed with fairly autonomous decision making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager.

GRADUATE PROFILE

A successful graduate of this course will be able to demonstrate an effective model of Christian discipleship within The Salvation Army and have a Certificate IV qualification in Youth Work.

MULTI SKILLING

Courses in the community services training package are closely associated and so it also may be possible to obtain other qualifications and/or skill sets by doing extra units to gain the knowledge and qualification you need to work in the community services sector that you are most passionate about, including:

  • Alcohol & other drugs
  • Disability work
  • Mental Health
  • Homelessness
  • and other sectors
