Why Booth College instead of TAFE?

jettyMORE THAN JUST A COURSE...

Booth College offers more than just a Certificate IV in Youth Work course. We offer a spiritually transformational experience. Living as a community of people who learn, grow and minister together is a uniquely life changing experience. The residential and community living aspect of this course play a major role, forging lasting friendships and learning skills for future living, family and ministry relationships.

WHY STUDY WITH BOOTH COLLEGE INSTEAD OF TAFE?

We offer vocational training Certificate IV qualifications but informally we offer so much more.

As a student you will receive training in skills and knowledge within the context of Salvation Army mission & ministry. This includes Discipleship, Christian Leadership, Biblical Studies, Salvation Army Mission, Preaching and facilitating Small Groups. Students have many opportunities to experience practical mission and ministry with coaching and encouragement from our experienced team.

Every single person's experience at the school is different. It is a place that will challenge you to your limits, at times stretch you further than ever before and yet in the end you will come out a better person
Even if your future career path is not within the scope of our course, skills learnt are valuable in any field of employment and in general life.

Not everyone who comes to the school goes on to full time ministry and leadership positions. Many people go back to their home corps and implement the things that they have learnt. A lot of students go onto normal jobs, but through that normal job, they minister to those they work with. What you can be assured of is that you will not leave the school the same person as you arrived, you can be assured that God will have impacted on your life in a great way enabling and equipping you for whatever lies ahead.

This qualification covers workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies and workers will be:

  • Responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation
  • Largely self directed with fairly autonomous decision making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager.
