 Ministry Assistants

Erin Sorensen - Ministry Assistant SFYL Lake MunmorahName: Erin Horton
Age: 22

I was born in Warwick Queensland. I attended The School for Youth Leadership in 2008. During that year I learnt a lot about myself and what I was capable of. After leaving the school I worked for a year on a cattle station as a nanny for two children. Towards the end of 2009 I felt that God was leading me into ministry so with a lot of prayer, here I am.

This next year will no doubt be full of surprises and challenges. I look forward to getting to know the students and staff and seeing the amazing things that God has in store for every one of us here at the school and those that we meet. I am also looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me in the next year.

JakeName: Jake Horton
Age: 22

My name is Jake and I am currently the male ministry assistant here at the school after being a student in 2010. Originally from Long Jetty Corps just down the road, I first heard about the school in 2009 when we had some of the students regularly attend our Sunday meetings. After getting to know the students and the staff and finding out about all the exciting things they were learning and taking part in I made the decision to submit an application all be it at the eleventh hour (sorry Andrew).

At the time I was working towards my trade certificate in automotive refinishing but after God made it clear to me that I was to attend I knew that I would be making the change.

I wouldn’t change my experience as a student for anything the journey we all took together helped us to learn more about ourselves and helped me deepen my relationship with God and even my family.

When I think about what the school is all about I get really excited because I know those lucky enough to be a part of it will never be the same. I learnt so much about myself, it is scary to think that I knew so little about who I was now I have direction and a new outlook on myself and life.
