Lake Munmorah - Youth Leadership

Our Mission:

To create a learning environment that will train, disciple and equip young people for a lifestyle of ministry and mission, as a Salvationist in contemporary society.

Our Vision:

Our vision is to see "Young Salvationists impacting the world for the Kingdom of God and being agents for positive change and healing".

SFYL

Our Strategy:

We will fulfil this vision by:

Living as a community of people, totally committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ, in the power of The Holy Spirit (Acts 2:42)

Utilizing selected speakers and teaching tools to equip each student to effectively communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Tim. 3:17)

Encouraging students to discover God's purpose and dreams for their lives, and provide opportunities for them to serve Him in leadership roles (Jer. 29:11)

Committing ourselves to their journey with Jesus, their wholeness in Him and their ongoing ministry within The Salvation Army (Phil. 1:6)

About Us

Our Lake Munmorah campus (also known as the School For Youth Leadership) is a place to encounter God and experience change. For the many who have gone through our program their testimony of the outcome is a richer relationship with Jesus and valuable ministry experiences and skills.

Our focus is on supporting and nurturing youth who want to grow as disciples and be equipped for their future. It is not necessarily a school for 'youth leaders' but is a place for all youth who want to deepen their relationship with Christ and be equipped for ministry and mission.

As a campus of Booth College, (The Salvation Army Australia Eastern Territory's training and education body) we are a vocational training site offering nationally recognised qualifications.

the school

The School was first opened in March 1992 and is situated on the Central Coast of NSW 1.5hours drive north of Sydney and 45 minutes drive south of Newcastle. It is situated on the edge of Lake Munmorah, giving amazing views of sunsets over the water. Students take many opportunities to take in this beautiful outdoor setting while enjoying inspiring moments of personal reflection and devotion.

To date 167 young people have been trained at The School for Youth Leadership. Some of these people are now in full time work with The Salvation Army as youth workers, welfare workers, Corps Assistants, Corps Planters, overseas missionaries and Salvation Army Officers.
