27th June 2011
On Sunday 26th June 2011, The Salvation Army Bellarine Peninsula expanded it's sphere of influence by enrolling its first ever Junior Soldiers.
Conducted by Bellarine Peninsula Officers Lieutenants Peter & Diane Hobbs, with the assistance of Territorial Leaders Commissioners Raymond and Aylene Finger, 10 boys and 1 girl repeated the Junior Soldier Promise and became junior members of The Salvation Army.
Their Promise cards were signed in the presence of family and friends.
The meeting included testimonies from Mario Vella, talking about his journey over the past 18 months, and newly enrolled Junior Soldiers Dylan Gray and Brody Velic shared how they planned to be activists for good in their community of St Leonards.
Following the ceremony lunch was shared by all present, before the 11 Junior Soldiers and interested on-lookers went to plant native trees indigenous to the Peninsula on The Salvation Army’s Jetty Road property, as a continual reminder of the promises made and a symbolic reminder of new life found in Jesus Christ.
The residents of The Bellarine Peninsula can rest assured that the future looks bright with these young activists at work for good in our community!
