For people struggling with Alcohol and Drug addictions we have the The Geelong Withdrawal Unit, located in Corio.
The Geelong Withdrawal Unit is a 12 bed, medically assisted community based, residential drug and alcohol withdrawal unit. The Unit offers an average 6 night detoxification stay for person’s 18 years or over, who are medically and psychiatrically stable and are not pregnant. Once a person has been admitted to the Unit, they may then apply for stage 2 and 3 of the extended recovery program.
Stage two of the program consists of a further 21 nights residential stay to enable people to stabilise following withdrawal and to participate in extended program and to formulate a recovery plan for action to support them post-discharge. Admission into Stage 2 is dependent upon bed availability, completion of withdrawal phase and program attendance, and motivation for change. Stage three offers a further 12 week stay in a residential house, located close to the Unit. While in stage 3, people are required to attend group program, and supported to extend with self-determination and responsibility for planning and action toward nominated changes and community life.
