Short story Competition’s winners

Thank you budding writers, from all over Australia, who made a submission to our Warcry Writers Competition for 2011.

Some two dozen worthy entries were received, and a team of judges set out to grade each story. Unique qualities emerged in most offerings, and our judges made a few difficult decisions—but we emerged with three winners, featured on these pages.

The criteria for this short story contest were simple. The competition was open-aged and each entrant could submit only one story. The story must be fictional, and run about 500-550 words. While there was no set theme, we asked that at least a mention of The Salvation Army in some form be included.

So successful, we feel, this competition was—we will consider conducting a similar contest toward the end of 2012. Therefore keep your creative juices flowing.
