Prayer Letter - November 2009

23 November 2009

Dear friends:

How grateful I am to you for your consistent prayer support for the Mission Priorities!  There is no doubt whatsoever that the Lord is hearing and answering prayer.  The moving of His Spirit upon our territory is living proof that He keeps faith with His people.  The apostle Paul was right when he assured the Galatians, "In due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart" (Galatians 6:9b).  The Lord of the harvest knows the secret of fruitfulness and when we pray and act according to His will, we will realise the bounty.  Philip Yancey wrote, "Prayer means opening myself to God and not limiting Him through my own preconceptions".  A territory marked by prayer and holiness will be open to His "immeasurably more" answers.

Last month, I asked you to pray for (among other things), the Delve weekend.  This was an idea adopted from New Zealand where young adults who have the potential to be officers were invited to "delve" into the subject of officership.  Over 100 personal letters of invitation were sent to our most gifted and dedicated people and 45 of them came. It was a huge success. Out of the group that attended, we had 18 expressions of interest for officership and at least 10 of those looking at 2011. Even if officership is not God's call for the others, we thank the Lord for these passionate soldiers who are totally committed to serving the Lord in their home corps.

Two weeks ago we had an amazing Territorial Candidates Board. We had 10 more people accepted for the 2010 session and 3 other applications to proceed.  And as a result of obedience to the Lord during the Unlimited weekend in Central & North Queensland there is another couple who responded and if possible want to enter the training College in 2010.  At this point we have 15 accepted Candidates for 2010.

We also prayed for people to sign up for soldiership and it is happening all around the territory. At the School for Youth Leadership graduation, 3 of the students were enrolled as soldiers.

Now the Commissioning weekend is on our horizon.  You have been praying for both sessions of cadets, the Prayer Warriors and Ambassadors of Holiness.  The former are going to be commissioned on the first Sunday of December.  They are excited!  And so is the territory!  Their ministry will make a powerful impact in every one of their appointments.  But the Commissioning events themselves are opportune moments for the Lord.  He uses them to bring people to faith and call them to service.  Please, please pray for this vitally important weekend.

We thank the Lord for answered prayer.  And we pray, in faith, consistently and with great hope.

God bless you richly.

Sincerely,

Linda Bond
